March 2010 ---not too many pics this month!

They always say March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb. We spent March 1st at the Emergency Room. Adelaide had a fever of 104.4 so I took her to InstaCare and they sent us straight to Phoenix Children's Hospital. I when I say straight, I mean straight. We didn't even make it out of the waiting room at Instacare...they took her temperature in a little room and sent us away (and yet they still billed us over $100 Ü).

She had just finished eating, I didn't take her in this way.

They gave us some Motrin and did a catheter to collect urine samples, but they couldn't find anything wrong. Finally, the temp went down on it's own and they sent us home!

I took a bazillion shots of this next scene because it was just so weird to see her (at that age) just balancing herself at the toy bin, looking for something to play with.

Here hair is soooo crazy in the morning. We call it her 'Conan O'Brian' hair-do because it sticks up and flops around like his does.

Showing off her teeth

I've been propping her up at the window in Grandma Jo's hallway so she can see outside. It's just her height!

She LOVES to use her new teeth on ANYTHING!

Collateral damage from her brother's painting activity (see her cheek and hand)

If I forget to put the baby gate up, her radar goes off and she is in the bathroom fast!
Usually, I catch just the last part of her bum as she crawls into the shower:

So proud that she pulled herself up!
Then, plop! Back down.
Attention! Big girl alert! It's amazing how a pair of jeans and a shirt can make her look so much older!

St. Patrick's Day

And that's it! I did not take very many pictures this month!

February 2010

I found a bunch of old posts in draft, so I published them and feel like I've done a lot to update her blog Ü. But really, this is probably the only new one I have time for:

She NEVER sits still like this, as anyone who has ever changed her diaper knows. So I was glad I took photos of all her poses.

Sitting pretty in Deacon's room

Outside for a picnic after months of being sick:

Adelaide was sooooo sick from December 2nd, until mid-February. I lost count of how many times we went to the doctor's office. It started out as croup. Then her cough got worse and worse. She would cough all night long and I had to hold her upright on my chest from about 2am to 4:30am. It got to the point where she would almost sleep through her coughing fits because she was so used to them (but I still had to hold her upright or she'd never stop).

Then the ear infections started. First in one ear, then as soon as it cleared up it would start in her other ear. They had me give her one antibiotic for a week, then a break. It didn't work so we tried a different antibiotic for another week. Nothing. With the runny nose they thought it was allergies, so we tried an over-the-counter allergy medicine. Nothing.

Out of nowhere she seemed to get better (I woke up one morning terrified because it was 7 am and for the first time in 8 months I didn't have to wake up in the night---I thought the worst!). But it lasted about 3 days. Then it started all over again with the hacking cough. So they wanted to do antibiotics again and I told them I was desperate for something else. Then ---THEN!--- they finally pull out the big guns (or big needle, I should say) and gave her a shot in her thigh of something I forget the name of. I had to come back three days later and they gave her another shot in the thigh. Then back four days later and.....knock on wood...she was healed! That was almost the end of February.

On March 1st I had to take her to the ER because she had a fever of 104.4
I was thinking, "Here we go again." But by the next day she was fine and she's been good ever since! (Can't say the same for my HSA Ü). We have an insurance plan with a Health Savings Account that pays for all preventative care and the first $1000 of anything else. Then we pay out of pocket after that. It has always worked for well for us because we've never been sick and I just change plans the year I have a baby. Next year we may need to reevaluate because it was gone by mid February (but totally worth it Future Addy who reads this :).

Photo Shoot

Aunt Callie and Carrie asked to borrow my camera and my kids. So I said okay, but was perplexed when they went off to the horse pasture out back. Anne Geddes better watch her back because these two are good! I love the progression from happy...to confused...to not happy...to wanting her momma!

More in February....

Carston's Blessing

Brynn's Baptism

Afty and Addy

She got stuck between the headboard and wall but didn't seem to mind!

Side note: I was at a friend's house helping her set up for a party and Addy was wearing these blue PJ's (below). I was in a hurry so I just brought clothes for Addy to change into. As I was undressing her, another mom was like "How cute. She wears her brother's jammies." And I was like, "Nope. I bought these brand new for her." Then she said, "But they're blue?!?" I said yeah, but I got them for $1.00! A brand new footed sleeper for a buck!

If she thought that was weird, I didn't offer up the fact that I just bought Deacon some Disney Princess Pull-Ups because I got a pack of them for .91 cents. They are usually 8.99! Because it was the last pack, I didn't have the luxury of choosing a more boyish color. Nurture vs. Nature???

On the 11th, she just took off crawling one day. And never stopped.

WHO IS THIS BIG GIRL!?!?!?

Nathan was right next to me when I took these pictures. As soon as I looked at them on the LCD screen I did a double take and looked at Addy. I asked Nathan, "Who is this big girl? And what has she done with my baby?"

THIS is her favorite face, she makes it all the time. Nathan's sisters call it 'The Gavin Smile'

Addy in January!

There's that precious grin

Ho hum! She does this coy little maneuver where she leans all the way over and lays her head down. Almost like she's tired, but she's not. She just bats her lashes at you.

Wednesday, January 20, 2010

These are probably from around when Addy was 18 months to 2.5 years:

When you smile at her....she covers her eyes and will start playing peek-a-boo (I think it is a shyness thing?)

She waves upside down. Almost like she is motioning you to 'come over here'.

She says "doh?" (like doe) to mean "huh?" or "what?"
